When you need a little change of scenery, an escape to a more natural setting can offer you a clear mind and a renewed spirit that the city just can’t compete with. Many outdoor enthusiasts will turn to the Homochitto National Forest, and for good reason! The 191,839-acre forest is a treasure trove of hiking trails, campgrounds, and picturesque settings that will have you thinking about making the leap to off-grid life. Within the forest, you’ll find a hidden gem that’s a picturesque little spot to call home for a day or two, and that’s Clear Springs Lake.
About 30 miles southeast of Natchez, Clear Springs Lake is a picture-perfect destination for those moments when you just need a little more nature in your life.
The campground has plenty of campsites to pitch a tent or bring along your RV.
The family-friendly spot has a playground for the little ones to enjoy, so feel free to bring along the whole family.
You may even find that you've got the entire place to yourself!
The 12-acre lake is just mesmerizing.
Do a little fishing, or if you're visiting in the summer months, bring your bathing suit and make a splash. The cool, spring-fed lake is a great way to keep cool during those hot Mississippi summers. During the winter months, pull up a chair, drop a line, and watch the sunlight bounce off of the water's reflection.
Even if you're just there for the day, the hiking trails are simply delightful.
The Richardson Creek Trailhead is nearby, and this 10-mile trail will take you on a lovely tour of the Clear Springs Recreation Area.
You'll feel like you're a million miles away from it all.
...and you kind of are! But you're less than an hour's drive away from a big city. Win-win.
It almost looks like a Monet painting, doesn't it?
