The summers in Mississippi are definitely too hot to do anything outdoors – and that includes eating. Luckily, the weather during all of the other seasons seems to be just right for some outdoor dining. So, the next time it feels too good to stay inside, head to one of these Mississippi restaurants, which are practically guaranteed to deliver a magical outdoor dining experience.
1. 10 South Rooftop Bar and Grill (1301 Washington St., Vicksburg)
Located on the roof of the First National Building in downtown Vicksburg, this popular eatery offers great food and even better sights – the Mississippi River, Yazoo Diversion, and Centennial Lake can all be seen from the restaurant.
2. The Old Capitol Inn (226 North State St., Jackson)
Jackson’s only rooftop bar can be found in the heart of the city’s downtown area at the Old Capitol Inn. The hotel’s "Relax on the Rooftop" event is held several nights a week, and includes great drinks, light menu options, and live music.
3. Darwell’s Café (127 East First St., Long Beach)
Forbes recently named this small town restaurant one of the best of 2016 - an honor that can definitely be attributed to more than just the mouthwatering food. Known for its one-of-a-kind atmosphere, Darwell’s has a lively outdoor area with musical entertainment.
4. Patio 44 (3822 West 4th St., Hattiesburg)
This self-proclaimed "patio-themed" restaurant has been recognized by Mississippi Magazine for providing the "best outdoor dining" in the state. Featuring a menu filled with steak, seafood, and Creole-inspired cuisine, the fare is as impressive as the atmosphere.
5. Proffitt’s Porch (1587 Officers Lake Rd., Columbus)
Head to this Columbus favorite and you’ll be treated to some of the best sandwiches in the state accompanied by amazing views, thanks to the large deck overlooking a gorgeous lake. Be sure to save room for dessert; Proffitt’s Porch has a reputation for serving some of the best chocolate chess pie in the state.
6. Government Street Grocery (1210 Government St., Ocean Springs)
This neighborhood bar is the place to go when craving some burgers, sandwiches, and live music – all of which can be enjoyed on a spacious patio.
7. Huck’s Cove Marina Bar and Grill (3000 Oak St, Gautier)
Looking for the "fun and feel of the Caribbean?" Then you’ll want to head on over to this Gautier bar and grill, where you’ll find burgers, po’ boys, and seafood in a lively setting with waterfront views.
8. Cowboy Jim’s Riverside Restaurant (MS-35, Collins)
Situated in the "middle of nowhere" on the banks of the Bouie River in the center of a Certified Wildlife Habitat, eating outdoors at Cowboy Jim’s is practically required. The beautiful surroundings go perfectly with the restaurant’s mouthwatering fare, which includes everything from hamburger steak and chicken tenders to filet mignon and seafood.
9. The Camp Restaurant (21 Silver St., Natchez)
When it comes to outdoor seating, The Camp Restaurant has got you covered. Aside from the gorgeous Beer Garden (pictured), there is also a seating area on the front porch, which provides up close views of the Mighty Mississippi.
10. Mary Mahoney’s (116 Rue Magnolia, Biloxi)
In the years since its opening, this coastal gem has garnered quite the reputation for its "elegant meals," which can be enjoyed in the ambient dining room or private courtyard.
11. Breaud’s Seafood and Steak (121 B North Commerce St., Natchez)
Delicious food in a setting to match, Breaud’s features a mouthwatering fare of steak and seafood, complete with a charming courtyard to enjoy it all in.
