When you need an escape, the Greenville Cypress Preserve is the perfect place. Like something from another world, it’s filled with ancient cypress trees. Even better, a short, easy loop trail winds through the preserve, making it easy to explore its splendor.
Brimming with beauty AND history, the Greenville Cypress Preserve is a 16-acre site that’s home to three strands of ancient cypress trees.
Free to visit, it’s open daily, from dusk until dawn.
Showcasing the magnificence and magic of virgin cypress trees that date back more than 100 years, the preserve is well deserving of its distinction as a “natural treasure in the Mississippi Delta.”
There are three trails in the preserve. The longest (and a must-do) is the ½-mile Cypress Trail, which makes a loop around the preserve.
If you prefer a shorter trek, check out the preserve’s ¼-mile Meadow Trail or the 1/3-mile Woodland Trail.
Complete with a boardwalk that winds through the cypress swamp, the Cypress Trail boasts some of the best – and most unique – views in the state.
Majestic beauty isn’t all the trail has to offer, though.
There’s also plenty of signage, providing info on the cypress trees as well as the surrounding area.
Remember, the Greenville Cypress Preserve is open daily, from dusk until dawn, and is free to visit. For more information, visit the Greenville Cypress Preserve website.
