Life is pretty hectic at times, which is why, every now and then, we’ve got to stop and smell, well, the…zinnias! We know just the place, too – the Ridgeland Wildflower Field. The perfect spot for a scenic stroll, this wildflower field in Ridgeland is overflowing with colorful zinnias as well as other lovely blooms. Come with us on this refreshing hike to see some of the prettiest wildflowers in Mississippi.
The Ridgeland Wildflower Field is located on W. Jackson Street in Ridgeland.
Keep Ridgeland Beautiful, the city of Ridgeland, and the Ridgeland Chamber of Commerce partnered together to create the expansive public garden.
An eye-catching sight, the roadside display features mainly zinnias. Why zinnias? Not only are they colorful, but they can withstand summer heat and drought.
The field has other types of blossoms too, including baby's breath, black-eyed Susan, and sulfur cosmos.
In addition to vibrantly-colored blooms, there are a handful of sculptures – all of which have been crafted from recycled and upcycled metal.
There’s much more to see than wildflowers and sculptures, though. There’s also wildlife, such as birds and butterflies.
When it comes to viewing the Ridgeland Wildflower Field, there are two options.
You can view it from your car as you leisurely drive by, or you can get out and walk along the path that winds through the field.
We recommend the latter. Not only does walking through the field afford close-up views of the Instagram-worthy setting, but it means you’ll have a chance to pick some flowers, which is permitted.
So, what do you think? Are you ready to stop and smell the…wildflowers? We thought so! For more info on this flower infused adventure, check out the Ridgeland Field Facebook page
