Here in Mississippi, we are blessed with incredible places for a day spent outdoors. From state parks to hiking trails, the list of options is long. But there is a lesser-known destination that we love — the Clinton Community Nature Center. Located within 32 acres of forest in Clinton, this nature center is the perfect day trip destination. Here you will find trails, a seasonal splash pad, historical landmarks, and much more. It will become one of your new favorite places to visit in Mississippi.
Welcome to the Clinton Community Nature Center. This unique destination provides a little history and a whole lot of nature to create a family-friendly outdoor destination. You’ll find the Clinton Community Nature Center at 617 Dunton Road in Clinton.
This nature center first opened its doors in 1997 in the heart of the forest. Children and adults will find plenty to see and do in this area and will leave with a new appreciation for both history and nature.
When you visit, make sure to bring your hiking shoes. There are shaded trails that take you through this gorgeous forest and identification and historical markers that will teach you as you go.
Most of the trails are covered in gravel and feature wooden bridges and boardwalks. Some do have steps that must be climbed. Take a look at the wheelchair-accessible trail map for those with mobility challenges.
If you have little ones, you’ll also want to check out the children’s play area, complete with a splash pad.
I particularly love the butterfly garden and pond. This is a delightful spot to relax and enjoy the sounds of nature.
You can also stop into the Nature Store, where you’ll find all types of local art, crafts, and more for purchase.
And if you plan your trip just right, you can participate in one of the many events held at the Clinton Community Nature Center such as Art After Dark, yoga, and nature talks. There are also seasonal events throughout the year.
Clinton Community Nature Center is more than just a day trip destination — it’s a place to learn and immerse yourself in some of Mother Nature’s creations. It’s fun for the entire family.
