Obviously, no one knows for sure what the 2024-2025 winter predictions will be, but thanks to the Farmers’ Almanac’s 2024-2025 winter predictions, we have a pretty good idea of what to expect. What do you think the winter predictions for Mississippi will be? Are you hoping for some snow? Mississippi sees about an average one one measly inch of snow each year, but you know what... stranger things have happened!
Mississippi winters are notoriously hard to predict. While we may not be reaching for our snow shovels any time soon, the Farmers’ Almanac’s 2024-2025 winter predictions in Mississippi have predicted a very damp and mild season for the Magnolia State.
If you’re going to put your faith in any meteorological system, the Farmers’ Almanac has a pretty solid track record. After all, they’ve been around since 1818!
Like many of the southern states, our seasons show up fashionably late to the party. So while the northern half of the state is dealing with that fluffy white stuff in November and December, we’ve still got some time.
Of course, we will still be feeling the temperatures drop around November. I like to call this false winter. We tend to get one cold snap, and then we're back to 70 degrees after a few days. Don't let false winter fool you! Winter is coming.
The winter weather predictions in Mississippi look like it's going to be filled with a lot of rain and more mild temperatures than previous winters.
And maybe a few frost warnings for Northern Mississippi.
January and February are when Mississippi will begin to see those true winter temps, but even then, winter in Mississippi is predicted to be about two degrees warmer than normal. I'm not convinced I'll be able to tell the difference at only two degrees, so I'll be hanging onto my coat this year.
The good news is that while most of the country will be experiencing colder-than-normal winter temperatures, the Farmers’ Almanac 2024 is predicting the southeast corner of the country to have above average temperatures.
So we may see a lot of rain, but not the drastic arctic blasts from years past. Those predictions are reserved for our friends over in the PNW.
In case this has you curious about your Mardi Gras plans, don't worry--I've already checked. Mardi Gras 2025 is on March 4, 2025. Looks like we are in for a rainy parade season.
Visit the Farmers’ Almanac to check out the predictions for each region of the country to learn more. While you’re at it, it’s a great time to start planning some winter activities like hiking and camping. Plus, the holiday season is just around the corner and there are some truly magical Christmas light displays in Mississippi that are worth checking out.
Don't forget to get yourself some proper winter gear! Make sure it's waterproof, you’ll need it this year!
