The Greenville Cypress Preserve is one of the state’s best treasures. And if you’ve never explored it, 2020 should be the year you change that. Boasting both history and tons of beauty, it offers an enchanting adventure like no other. Take a look:
Located in the heart of the Delta, the Greenville Cypress Preserve is open 7 days a week, from dawn until dusk.
At 16 acres, it’s not extremely large; however, it’s brimming with natural beauty and stunning sights.
The cypress swamps that fill the preserve are absolutely enchanting, especially during the warmer months when adorned with vibrant greenery.
Boardwalks traverse the preserve, making it easy to explore the area. And since the boardwalks extend right over the water, you’ll be treated to one-of-a-kind, close up views of the cypress trees.
Though the cypress trees alone are reason enough to visit the preserve, they’re not the only reason.
Trails meander through the preserve, which, in addition to cypress trees, includes patches of colorful wildflowers and lots of informational signage.
Aside from info on the preserve itself, the signs provide fun facts regarding local history.
Some things to know before you go. First, be prepared! In other words, bring everything you may need, such as a camera, binoculars, sunscreen, bug spray, etc.
And while it may be hard, try and refrain from picking flowers or removing plants from the preserve.
Dubbed "a unique urban forest," the preserve offers a one-of-a-kind chance to observe and experience nature's beauty!
The Greenville Cypress Preserve is open daily from dawn until dusk. For more information, e-mail: [email protected]. You can also visit the preserve’s website or Facebook page.
