Viewing dazzling light displays is probably one of the most popular Christmas traditions. Lucky for us, there are several places to view Christmas lights in Mississippi – and one spot that belongs on your seasonal bucket list during Christmas in Mississippi is Christmas in the Park. The glowing display features millions of colorful lights, tons of festive décor, and a whole lot of holiday cheer!
With tons of opportunities for outdoor fun, Holmes County State Park in Tylertown is a great visit year-round.
However, the park gets even better during the holiday season when it puts on its annual light display, Christmas in the Park.
During the festive celebration, the 40-acre park is decked out with colorful Christmas lights.
Millions of lights are used to create the array of holiday scenes that fill the park, making it the biggest community event of its kind in the area.
There are two options for viewing the glowing display.
The first option is to take a driving tour, which means you can view the colorful Christmas lights from the comfort of your (warm) vehicle.
Driving tours are available nightly (weather permitting) from Thanksgiving until New Year’s Eve. Admission varies between $5 and $20, depending on vehicle size.
Walking tours are available one night only, which is the night before Thanksgiving.
Admission is $5 for adults and $2 for children (cash or check only).
A great choice, the walking tour allows you to move through the display at your own pace. It also gives you a chance to get a close-up look at the intricate display (and take some pics).
The walking tour brings with it another treat – Santa and Mrs. Clause! The big guy in the red suit and his wife will be at the park for pictures. Hot chocolate and cookies are also available, perfectly completing the festive fun.
