Mississippi’s beachfront is full of great sites and attractions. And it looks like the area is gaining another, as work has begun on the Mississippi Aquarium. The Gulf Coast’s newest attraction is slated to open in late 2019 or early 2020. And while there’s still some time before it opens, it’s already obvious it’s the kind of place you’ll want to visit over and over again. Take a look:
The Mississippi Aquarium is located on 5.8 acres of beachfront property in Gulfport.
With construction underway, the aquarium is on track to open by the end of 2019 or the beginning of 2020.
When complete, the aquarium will offer 80,000 square feet of fun! A great place for the entire family, it’ll be packed with indoor and outdoor exhibits, including the Gulf Tunnel, which extends 30’ and surrounds visitors with sea life.
There’s also the Gulf Strata – a 21’ tall viewing window.
Even the entrance to the aquarium is sure to impress thanks to a fountain, which will stand taller than the Biloxi Lighthouse.
But it's not just sea life you'll find at the aquarium. Visitors will get close-up views of all sorts of animals, including alligators, river otters, and shorebirds to name a few.
Between the state of the art exhibits and the plethora of things to see, the Mississippi Aquarium is sure to become your favorite beachfront attraction.
Remember, the aquarium is scheduled to open in late 2019/early 2020. For more information, visit the Mississippi Aquarium website or Facebook page.
