Looks like one of Mississippi’s newest attractions is also one of the most wild. Officially named Safari Wild, the animal park and preserve is home to hundreds of rare and endangered animals from Africa. And the best part is, you can view them from the comfort of your own car! Take a look:
On May 23, 2019, Safari Wild in Como opened – something that’s been two years in the making!
A lot of planning went into opening the park, and then there was the process of getting animal permits and actually building the roads and fencing.
All of the hard work was worth it, though, because now, Mississippi is home to a 467-acre wildlife preserve that’s home to hundreds of animals from Africa.
Unlike any other wildlife park in the state, Safari Wild offers drive-thru safari tours. That’s right; you can view all of the park’s animals from the comfort of your own vehicle.
As you travel along six miles of African safari roads in your own car, you’ll come across all sorts of animals. (You’ll even get to feed a few.)
The exotic excursion takes about two hours – during which time, you’ll get close-up views of giraffes, antelope, zebras, llamas, and more.
Admission to the park is $16 per adult and $12 per child. However, once you pay, you can drive through the park as many times as you'd like.
The park is open daily from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Remember, the last car is admitted at 4 p.m.
After your tour, be sure to check out everything else the park has to offer, including camel rides, a petting zoo, gift shop, and more.
Bringing the African savanna right here to Mississippi, a visit to Safari Wild is a must!
