For most Minnesotans, Como or the Minnesota Zoo are the first places that come to mind when we think of zoos. But there are several smaller - but still great - zoos across the state that are well worth visiting. These are great for those of us who live outside the Twin Cities but still want to see wildlife up close. If you're in southern Minnesota, head on over to Redwood Falls. There, you'll find a lovely zoo that is fun for the whole family. And as an added bonus, it is also a beautifully rugged park perfect for adventure. There's so much to love about this zoo and adventure park in Minnesota.
More than 250 acres in size, Alexander Ramsey Park is the largest municipal park in the state of Minnesota. It is located at 99 East Oak Street in Redwood Falls, Minnesota.
Paved trails crisscross through this beautiful park, making it an excellent place for hiking adventures.
Among the many breathtaking sights, the Redwood River is one of the best.
The Redwood River flows into a gorgeous waterfall.
Surrounded by jagged rocks and wild foliage, the park is an unforgettable adventure. If you're brave, you can even access the top of the falls for a spectacular view.
When you tire of adventure, you can hang out in the park's picnic area. This is also a good place to sit down for a meal if you're using the campsite on the grounds.
Aside from the rugged adventures available at Alexander Ramsey Park, they also have a zoo. It is full of animals native to the region, like prairie dogs...
...deer, elk, and birds...
...and even farm animals like goats. All in all, it's a great way to see some common wildlife up close.
