While Gooseberry Falls might be the most visited and most iconic of Minnesota falls, the High Falls at Tettegouche on the Baptism River simply can't be overlooked. The stunning beauty of the 60 foot waterfalls combined with the rest of the park makes us put Tettegouche at the top of our must-visit list this year. The park even shines in the winter when the frozen falls and icy shore of Superior make for some one-of-a-kind views!
Getting to the park is easy. Just head north from Duluth and you'll find the entrance 4.5 miles northeast of Silver Bay on Highway 61. The drive itself is beautiful, and once you arrive at the park it's a quick walk to the falls. The park even has a brand new visitor center and rest stop!
You can view the falls from observation decks on both sides, and you won't want to miss these views! Watch the water rush over the rocks, down the river, and out to Lake Superior. In fact, Tettegouche is one of the best parks to visit on the North Shore because of the views it has of the lake, and the 3 waterfalls in addition to the High Falls that are equally as stunning, although not quite as high.
Once you've seen the top of the falls head below for another view. This is the best photo op and the perfect way to remember your North Shore vacation.
