Waterfalls are among Minnesota's greatest natural wonders, and luckily the Land of 10,000 Lakes has more than a few spectacular examples. Everyone knows the beauty of Gooseberry or Minnehaha Falls. But there are still other, lesser known waterfalls that are just as worth visiting. Today, we will explore a secret waterfall in southern Minnesota that most people don't know about. Take a look.
Alexaner Ramsey Park is a lesser known park in Redwood Falls, Minnesota, about 100 miles southwest of Minneapolis. Address: 99 E Oak Street, Redwood Falls, MN 56283.
The park, centered on the Redwood River, covers 256 acres. It's been nicknamed the Little Yellowstone of Minnesota thanks to its size.
In addition to lovely river views, there are also hiking trails throughout the park. They lead through a lovely forested landscape that is beautiful no matter the season.
Pause along the stone bridge to watch the water flow by.
A shady picnic shelter is the perfect place to rest after exploring the trails.
There's also a zoo within the park. Elk, deer, buffalo, and many other Minnesota animals live there.
Of course, the park also has an incredible waterfall.
The Redwood River tumbles over rugged rocks as it continues toward the Minnesota River.
From afar, this waterfall is simply breathtaking. You'll never tire of its seemingly endless stream.
It's also possible to see the waterfall from the top. This unique view is not to be missed!
Overall, Ramsey Falls is a secret waterfall that not many know about - and even fewer venture to. But it's well worth the trip!
