There are many great ways to see Minnesota's fall leaves. For example, the adventurous may enjoy a road trip to the North Shore or a riverboat ride along the St. Croix River. Those with an even bigger quest for adventure will likely enjoy ziplining above the leaves! But for those of us who want a more laid-back journey to see autumn color, any of Minnesota's 67 state parks will do perfectly. Each one is full of a wide variety of trees, making them perfect destinations for Minnesota leaf seekers. One of our favorite spots is Lake Bemidji State Park, a great place for an autumn adventure.
Lake Bemidji State Park is a 6,700-acre expanse in Bemidji, Minnesota. It's beautiful all year, but it's especially stunning when the leaves begin to change.
Visit at just the right time, and you'll notice the gorgeous color as you drive into the park. According to the DNR Fall Color Finder, Lake Bemidji State Park's leaves usually peak in the first few weeks of October.
The park is filled with beautiful trees that create a mixed forest filled with every shade of fall color that you can imagine.
A hike through the park will prove how beautiful it is. There are 11 miles of hiking trails that will take you beneath the forest canopy. You may even catch a glimpse of one of the 100+ bird species.
If plant life is more your speed, cross the boardwalk into the spruce-tamarack bog that the park protects. Here, you may catch a glimpse of carnivorous sundews or pitcher plants!
Of course, Lake Bemidji State Park gets its name from the 11-square-mile Lake Bemidji.
The park is on the north shore of the lake, and it offers great views of fall colors. Take a walk along its perimeter to enjoy the peaceful quiet on a crisp fall day.
You can even take a walk along the beach! The water will be too cold o swim, but the sight of the blue water and orange leaves will be unforgettable.
