Here in Minnesota, we are lucky to have access to 66 of the most beautiful state parks in the entire country. Some, like Gooseberry Falls, are popular among Minnesotans and out-of-state visitors alike. But many others are unknown even to Minnesotans who have lived here for there entire lives. That's certainly the case for one secret state park in the west-central region of the state. Glacial Lakes State Park may be lesser known, but it sure is beautiful. Visit to see all that the receding glaciers left behind thousands of years ago.

Covering more than 2,400 acres, Glacial Lakes is large and full of interesting sights. Around 16 miles of hiking trails cut through the park.
They'll take you on a tour of some of the state's most unusual landscape. Thousands of years ago, receding glaciers left behind a 20 mile stretch of rolling hills dotted with lakes.
Now, the hills are decorated with prairie grasses and wildflowers. From spring until late summer, visitors will find a blanket of color over the hills.
As can be expected, plenty of wildlife is on display at the park. Rodents, beavers, birds, and sometimes even coyotes are spotted around the park.
You'll have your best chance at spotting them if you spend the night. Plenty of camping is available at Glacial Lakes State Park. The campsites are both beautiful and well-maintained.
Once you're done exploring the hills that the glaciers left behind, it's time to explore the lakes.
Signalness Lake is popular for boating, fishing, and swimming. Surrounded by the wide-open prairie, you won't want to be anywhere else.
