Buffalo River State Park is a small state park in northwestern Minnesota. It's in the small community of Glyndon, about 15 miles east of Fargo, North Dakota.
The park is small, covering just 19 acres. But it has a lot to offer, including lovely views of the Buffalo River as it winds through the forest.
There are 12 miles of hiking trails through the park, each offering lovely views of the surrounding forest...
...and the picturesque river. Surrounded by nature, without many people around, hikes through this park are the definition of peace and quiet.
Beyond the trails, many come here to enjoy the park's swimming hole. Not many outside of the area know about it, so it is a true hidden gem. It's a man-made pond filled with clean, filtered water.
The pond is surrounded by soft white sand. Spread out your blankets, grab your shovels and pails, and have some fun in the sun - and sand!
And when the sun gets too hot, the refreshing waters of the Buffalo River State Park pond will help you cool down. With its great hikes and excellent swimming hole, Buffalo River State Park makes for a great family outing!
