Tahquamenon Falls is easily Michigan's most famous waterfall system, but it's certainly not the only one in our scenic state. If you're looking to experience the natural beauty of a waterfall without the day-long hiking commitment, here are eight easily accessible waterfalls in Michigan that will knock your socks off. Prepare to spend some time in the great outdoors with little-to-no hiking required.
1. Sable Falls
The drive to Sable Falls is smoothly paved and easy to follow. Once you arrive, you’ll find that it’s an ideal spot to enjoy a picnic in the company of one of Michigan’s most breathtaking waterfalls. This lovely landmark is tucked within the expanse of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. Find it near Sable Falls Road, Seney, MI 49883.
2. Ocqueoc Falls
Ocqueoc Falls is the only officially recognized waterfall in the Lower Peninsula, which makes it special in its own right. Located in Millersburg, the falls are renowned for their handicap accessibility and stunning beauty. You can also find Ocqueoc Falls Campground nearby, which makes for awesome overnight excursions. 3. Munising Falls
Munising Falls is undoubtedly high on the list of things to do during a trip to the town of Munising, located directly on Lake Superior. While this gorgeous waterfall is easy to find and does not require intense hiking, be forewarned that visitors must climb quite a few stairs to access it. This beauty is also located in Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. You can find it off of Becker Rd, Munising, MI 49862.
4. Spray Falls
There’s no hiking required to access the lovely Spray Falls — instead, they can be easily viewed from the water. Hop in a kayak or tour boat and check out the natural beauty of the falls, which are located within Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. Admire its massive 70 foot cascade, because it's a landmark like no other. Find it in Munising Township, MI 49884.
5. Gabbro Falls
Located in the Black River area, Gabbro offers visitors front-row access to a truly mighty waterfall. You can drive most of the way to the falls and see them up-close after a brief trek. Find this local landmark in Bessemer Township, MI 49911.
6. Miners Beach Falls
Yet another majestic landmark located in the Pictured Rocks area, the Miners Beach Falls (also known as Elliot Falls) are tucked away at the eastern end of the beach that gives them their name. This waterfall system is relatively short and flows directly into Lake Superior, which gives it a unique charm. Find it off of Miners Falls Rd, Munising, MI 49862.
7. Wagner Falls
It will only take you a few minutes to reach Wagner Falls, located in a peaceful and quiet section of the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore area. In total, the falls cover about 20 feet of drops. You'll find it in Wagner Falls Scenic Site, a state park located in Munising, MI 49862.
8. Black River Falls
Nestled among towering pine trees, Black River Falls is located just a brief walk from the parking area. It's a mere 20 foot cascade, but it is still breathtaking. Next time you’re in Marquette County, stop by to marvel at the gorgeous view.
