The three-mile trail mostly tracks the River Rouge itself, but does wind into the woods.
Rouge Park is located between Dearborn and the Detroit neighborhood of Warrendale.
Rouge Park is the largest park in the city of Detroit and has been in operation since the 1920s. Besides its many trails, the park also has a bird observatory, swimming pools, an organic farm, and hosts special events throughout the year.
The River Rouge is a 127-mile river located in Metro Detroit.
The river is divided into four branches, the main, upper, middle, and lower branches. The main branch in Northwest Detroit is where the Rouge Park Trail lies.
If biking is not your thing, there are several other walkable trails with Rouge Park.
The non-biking trails range from the 0.3-mile butterfly garden Joe Prance Nature Trail to the 1.7-mile tall-grassed Prairie Pathway. No matter what trail experience you are in the mood for, you will find what you are looking for in Rouge Park.
