If there's one thing that's true about Michigan, it's that you're never too far away from an amazing outdoor adventure. The Seven Bridges Natural Area is a 314-acre nature preserve in Kalkaska County that's home to one of the most peaceful bridge hikes in Michigan. While many bridges in Michigan will give you grandiose overlooks from high above the tree line, this particular bridge hike puts you closer to the ground so that you can enjoy the sights and sounds of the natural area.

Fun fact: this area was once slated to be cleared for a subdivision! Thankfully, through the acts of several preservationists, it was saved from demolition and is now currently owned by the state.
There are roughly three miles of trails to explore within the 300+ acre forest.
As you make your way through the cedar trees, your hike will be scored by the sounds of the Rapid River which runs through the area.
Despite the name, there are actually only four bridges, and they'll give you passage over the river.
With relatively little elevation, this short and sweet hike is great for families with little ones, so bring the entire crew along for the adventure.
The area is stunning year-round, taking on a completely different vibe with each season.
Come back every few months and watch the landscape change.
Winter is an especially mesmerizing time to traverse this bridge hike in Michigan, just make sure you're wearing shoes with a good grip.
