Are you looking for a small, underrated beach where you can unwind and immerse yourself in Michigan’s natural beauty? While you’ve likely checked out some of our state’s larger, more famous beachfront destinations, there’s nothing more magical than a tucked-away shoreline spot. One small but spectacular beach certainly fits the bill, and you’ll want to check it out for yourself.
Lake Street Beach is located in the town of Glen Arbor. As its name implies, it sits off S Lake Street.
While many visitors opt to explore nearby Sleeping Bear Dunes hiking trails or more well-known spots like Empire Beach, Lake Street Beach offers a natural charm and beauty all its own.
Upon arriving, you’ll find a compact yet decidedly gorgeous section of beach that makes for a perfect place to stretch your legs, appreciate the refreshing water, or simply appreciate the sunshine.
The beach looks out upon Sleeping Bear Bay on Lake Michigan, so the water here is a brilliant blue. In fact, you might just wonder if you’ve landed in the Caribbean as you unwind atop the sand.
While the area is open to the public, you’ll want to be attentive to markers determining where the shore turns into private beach space. Luckily, you don’t need miles of shoreline to enjoy this spot.
If you’re the adventurous type, take time to scour the beach for Petoskey stones, which have been known to make an appearance here. Locals and out-of-towners alike will adore Lake Street Beach.
In addition to plenty of daytime fun, the beach offers absolutely stunning views of the sunset each evening. Snap a few photos as the horizon comes to life with a cornucopia of warm colors.
When you’re looking for an underrated waterfront destination that will sweep you away from it all, be sure to check out this Glen Arbor treasure. You’ll certainly head back for a second visit.
