Looking for a fun way to get away from it all? Life can be stressful, no matter what the season, but we’re lucky to live among a plethora of natural and manmade attractions here in Michigan that make it easy to escape from time to time. One such spot in the Great Lakes State will take you up to the treetops, and it offers a reprieve from the difficulties of everyday life in all seasons.
Whiting Forest of Dow Gardens is located at 2203 Eastman Ave in Midland.
In conjunction with Dow Gardens themselves, this 54-acre outdoor space offers Michiganders the chance to reconnect with nature in new and exciting ways throughout the year.
While Whiting Forest features orchards, ponds, and more, its most alluring element is the Canopy Walk: a 1,400-foot-long pathway that takes guests on a journey through the treetops.
Situated 40 feet above the ground, this amazing walk is the longest of its kind in the United States. Whether snow is falling or leaves are changing, you’ll be enchanted here.
As you peruse the Canopy Walk, you’ll find everything from a glass-floored viewing platform to gorgeous glimpses of surrounding woodlands. Does it get much prettier than this?
Be sure to bring along your camera and snap a few photos, as you’ll want to remember this spectacular journey through nature. No matter the season, there’s so much to see.
When you’re finished exploring the Canopy Walk, take time to peruse attractions that sit closer to the ground. Serene streams, pretty trails, and lovely views abound throughout.
Whether temperatures have plummeted or the sun is shining, one thing is for sure: a family excursion at Whiting Forest of Dow Gardens will sweep you away to a wonderful new world.
