Massachusetts may not be known as a tropical paradise, especially during the chillier months, e.g. most of the year. However, there are some great beaches in Massachusetts. In fact, there are a few spots that seem to have an undeniable Caribbean vibe. That’s certainly the case with one tiny beach in Gloucester, which boasts crystal-clear waters and is easily one of the most beautiful beaches in Massachusetts.
Half Moon Beach is a little sandy stretch in Gloucester that is one of the prettiest beaches in Massachusetts. It’s small but mighty.
Half Moon Beach gets its name from its distinctive shape. It’s formed like a crescent and ringed by large rocks.
Locals and visitors alike love visiting this beach for its almost tropical-looking beauty. The color of the water is a tempting blue that looks like something that belongs in Florida, not Massachusetts.
You’ll love wading into the calm waters and enjoying the refreshing shade of the trees that cluster around the sand. However, you should be warned – this beach can get chilly early in the season.
The beach is part of Stage Fort Park. Lifeguards patrol the beach from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Memorial Day right through to the end of the summer.
Dogs can join you in the park around the beach but aren’t allowed on the sand. Parking is $15 per car on weekdays and $20 per vehicle on weekends and holidays.
