This stunning spot in the Berkshire hills is a great place to dig for treasure.
Earthdance is primarily an artist-run workshop and retreat, but they also offer mineral collecting.
About 75 years ago, dynamite blasts were used to extract rocks and minerals from the Anson G. Betts Mine. Today, the mine’s quarry pits are beautiful woods.
Now, you can visit and harvest the leftover minerals and rocks for yourself.
There’s plenty to find on these gorgeous grounds, including the Massachusetts state gemstone, rhodonite.
You can also pick out pyrite (better known as "fool’s gold), rhodochrosite, spessartine garnets, almandine garnets and tephroite.
You can collect here for a fee, which is considered a donation to Earthdance.
