Monument Mountain is located in Great Barrington. It’s a 1,642-foot peak that offers heart-pounding views.
If you don’t really consider yourself a mountaineer, never fear — you can get to the top of this hill in just over a half-mile of hiking.
If you’re looking for the absolute best views, the Squaw Peak Trail is the one for you. It’s 0.62-miles and will take you straight the top.
The easiest trail is the Indian Monument Trail. It will take you 1.51 miles of walking, but you’ll pass ancient pasture stone walls, old cart paths, and stunning rock formations on your way to the top.
Feel like a challenge? Opt for the 0.83-mile Hickey Trail. It’s the most strenuous but will get you to the top quickly.

No matter how you get there, the peak of Monument Mountain is truly something from a dream. On a summer day, you can expect rolling clouds, green valleys, and sunshine all around.
