There are so many pretty beachside trails in Massachusetts that it’s hard to pick a favorite. However, this lovely path on Martha’s Vineyard may be a serious contender. The Moshup Beach trail will take you over some of the state’s highest dunes and to one of its most charming beaches.
The Moshup Beach trail is located near Chilmark on the sunny island of Martha’s Vineyard. It’s the perfect way to stretch your legs before or after a relaxing beach day.
The trail is just about 0.4 miles long and winds its way along the dune cliffs overlooking Moshup Beach. It’s an out-and-back trail that features sandy terrain and some boardwalk.
This beautiful path is surrounded by coastal shrubland and beach grass. Depending on the season, you may see clouds of monarch butterflies fluttering through the air.
The atmosphere here is the big draw. Sparkling waves, drifting clouds, and the calls of gulls and common yellowthroats make this spot absolutely dreamy.
And of course, a visit to the stunning beach below is the perfect way to reward yourself for a trek through the sand. It’s a sandy beach with some rocks and boulders.
The trail is well-marked and it’s nearly impossible to get lost, so this would be a great little hike for families with small kids. You can park at the bottom of the trail and hike up to the beach.
