There are certain trails that lead to spectacular places. Whether it's to a scenic overlook, through the woods, or to the sea, trails around the Bay State allow us to connect with nature and explore the great outdoors. If you're looking for a boardwalk trail in Massachusetts that leads through a beautiful location, head to the town of Eastham and stroll along the Red Maple Swamp Trail.
The Cape Cod National Seashore is full of fascinating landscapes. From sea to bay, dunes, and even swamps, there's so much to explore.
Head to Red Maple Swamp in Eastham and you'll find a lovely boardwalk trail to take a stroll. The total length of the swamp trail is 0.8 miles and will take, at most, 45 minutes to complete.
As the name suggests, this area is home to a swamp filled with red maple trees. Start your journey along the Fort Hill Trail for about 0.1 miles. You will then veer off onto the Red Maple Swamp Trail.
The trail starts off as dirt but you will continue the trek onto the elevated boardwalk sections when you get into the center of the swamp.
Allow yourself plenty of time to stop, take photos, and take in the beautiful scenery. This is such a unique part of the Cape Cod National Seashore.
When the trail loops toward the Fort Hill Trail, you'll have the opportunity to stop and view Indian Rock. When you read the interpretive sign, you'll learn all about its history.
If you want to extend your hiking adventure, continue on to the Fort Hill Trail where you'll see views like the one pictured here.
