Birch Pond is part of the Lynn Woods Reservation, an expansive natural space that includes over 2,000 acres of wilderness. You can reach the pond from the east by hiking a 4.4-mile loop trail that is dog and horse friendly. The pond itself is about a mile long and bordered by the most stunning fall foliage.

A small trail near the pond is perfect for a scenic stroll around the water. There are rocks of all shapes and sizes sticking out of the water and scattered along the edge, making for some great vantage points for photography or perfect locations for a waterside picnic.

Fitch Memorial Woodlands in Williamstown is an excellent choice for those looking for a moderately challenging hike. The Fitch Trail is a two-mile out-and-back path that winds through a forest of hardwoods and hemlocks. Along the way, you'll find some rocky areas to traverse and a beautiful stand of old-growth maples to admire.
This woodland is a haven for birds, so keep an eye out for a variety of species. You might even spot an old stone wall, a reminder of the area's history. With its varied terrain and abundant wildlife, Fitch Memorial Woodlands provides a rewarding experience for hikers seeking a quiet respite in the woods.
Thinking about hiking the RRR Brooks Trail? It's a solid option if you're on the hunt for a moderate trek with some nice payoffs. This out-and-back trail clocks in at just under five miles, and it takes you through some really pretty forested areas in Taconic Trail State Park in Williamstown.
The trail climbs steadily, but it's not overly steep. You'll get a good workout, and the views from the top are definitely worth it. One AllTrails user even suggested turning it into a loop by connecting to the Sarah Tenney Trail, something to consider if you want to extend your hike. Just be prepared for a few rocky sections and maybe some muddy spots if it's been raining. Overall, the RRR Brooks Trail is an underrated gem with somebeautiful terrain, all without the crowds of more popular trails.
Robinson State Park in Feeding Hills is home to a rich varietyof plants and animals, making it one of the most diverse natural areas in Massachusetts. The Eastside Trail is a great introduction to this unique environment. This 2.5-mile loop trail is an easy hike, suitable for all ages and skill levels.
As you follow the trail, you'll come across a mix of woods and river vistas, with a small waterfall along the way. Be sure to watch for wildlife. You might see deer, fishers, or even a bald eagle! The park is also known for its rare wildflowers, turtles, and dragonflies. With its mellow atmosphere and abundant natural beauty, the Eastside Trail is a wonderful way to experience Robinson State Park.
5. Davis Hill Field Trail and Laurel Hill Loop Trail, Moore State Park
The Davis Hill Field Trail and Laurel Hill Loop Trail in Moore State Park combine to create a delightful 1.7-mile loop perfect for a refreshing walk or light hike near Paxton, Massachusetts. Known for its peaceful atmosphere, this easy trail weaves throughtall trees and open fields with gentle hills and just enough elevation to keep things interesting. It’s a fantastic spot to stretch your legs, breathe in the fresh air, and enjoy the scenery.
The trail is open from February to November and is family-friendly, though it’s best to leave dogs at home. Waterproof boots can be helpful after rain, as some areas may get a bit muddy.
