Filled with exotic plants and flowers, this spot is a living museum of the most beautiful flora this state has to offer. Read on to learn more about this unexpected slice of natural splendor. Let's take a look at one of the best hidden gems in Massachusetts!
The entrance to the Garden in the Woods is fittingly magical.
You really feel like you're entering another realm.
The dense foliage and flowering plants almost completely insulate visitors from the sound of the outside world.
It's amazingly peaceful... like a reset for the soul.
Two miles of beautiful paths guide through 45 acres of lush garden and glacier-sculpted ridges.
It's a treat... just be sure to wear good hiking shoes. Trust us, you're going to want to.
The rare and unexpected blooms you'll find around every turn are cultivated and maintained by the New England Wild Flower Society.
The garden includes a lily pond, a babbling brook, a wooded bog, several cool springs, and plenty of secluded nooks.
The Masur Fountain is a lovely spot to sit, reflect, and enjoy the sound of trickling water.
"Floating gardens" also drift across the surface of the pond. And occasionally turtles may hitch a ride. As if the greenery on the ground wasn't enough, silver saucers filled with flowers are dotted around the garden.
Due to the fragility of these rare plants, we are asked to stay on the paths.
But even so, who knows what kinds of creatures you may find wandering the woods?
Tickets are available at the Visitor Center when you arrive.
