The 12,000-acre Beartown State Forest is located in the town of Monterey in the Berkshires. It offers a variety of activities like hiking, biking, mountain biking, horseback riding, camping, and more.
Within Beartown State Forest is a 35-acre pond filled with cool, crisp water. Benedict Pond is a wonderful swimming hole to enjoy on a hot summer's day.
Take the 1.7-mile Benedict Pond Loop through the woods to Benedict Pond. It's a lovely hike that's considered easy and kid-friendly. You can visit AllTrails for a map of the trail.
Take in the views as you hike around the pond. It's absolutely beautiful!
After working up a sweat from the hike, it's time to take a dip in the cool waters of this hidden gem pond.
Aside from swimming, visitors can also go canoeing or kayaking. It's also a great spot for fishing.
