Located in the heart of the city, this waterfront path will treat you to some of the best views in Boston.
It’s a public green space that winds along three whole miles of the Charles River, extending from the Boston Museum of Science to the Boston University Bridge.
Along the way, walkers, cyclists, and joggers pass historical monuments, gorgeous natural features, and the renowned Hatch Memorial Shell.
The path is smooth and flat, perfect for casual walkers or families with strollers. There are three different free playgrounds located along the five-mile path, so kids will have plenty to do.
There’s nothing like strolling along the esplanade while watching the white sailboats glide over the river and hearing the gulls overhead. The esplanade is also stunning in the winter.
The esplanade is open from dawn until dusk year-round. Walking here is free and public restrooms are available at several points from late spring to early fall.
