Upon this 2-mile loop, you'll find outstanding views before you even reach your final destination. Make sure to bring a camera, because Olivia's Overlook tucked away in Stockbridge is a hidden gem that you'll want to remember for years to come.
Welcome to the Charcoal Trail!
If you're looking for an incredible hike in Berkshire County, this 2-mile loop trail will take you to the hidden Olivia's Overlook.
Tucked away in the massive 734-acre reserve known as Yokun Ridge South, you'll find various hiking trails that will take you to a secret overlook. To take Charcoal Trail, stay right upon the loop.
While this trail is mostly an uphill climb, you'll find a bench at the top to rest and take in the views.
There are rounded charcoal pits along the trail, which is what the trail was named after. In the distance, you can see Monument Mountain.
Other views include the towns of Richmond and West Stockbridge. It's an incredible feeling to look out over your own town.
Please remember to leave no trace when hiking to this beautiful overlook, including food and orange peels. This land is the native homeland of the Mohican people before they were forced to relocate to Wisconsin. This is meaningful land to the Stockbridge-Munsee Mohican Nation.
For a quiet and breathtaking hike in the Berkshires, take Charcoal Trail and at the end, you will find a hidden overlook known as Olivia's Overlook.
