My home state of Maryland harbors several incredible playgrounds, where kids can go after school or on weekends to romp and rampage as they will across jungle gyms, slides, rock walls, and more. But if you’ve never made the trip to Wheaton Regional Park, then boy are both you and your children missing out. This park is absolutely enormous, with a playground that just does not quit and with all sorts of interactive and interesting activities that the whole family can enjoy on a warm Sunday afternoon! Here's more on the biggest playground in Wheaton, Maryland.
Wheaton Regional Park encompasses 536 acres of land which are full of recreational and educational opportunities! The playground is colossal, with slides aplenty for everyone to enjoy.
The playground extends into the park, with jungle gyms and rock walls to scurry up or get tangled in. There’s also a botanical garden to explore if you’re looking for something a bit less chaotic!
But Wheaton Regional Park has so much more to offer than just their incredibly inclusive playground. If you wait patiently at the station…
…You’ll be able to board a miniature train that will take you on a tour of the park’s many scenic landscapes! The train isn’t just for kids, either - adults are welcome to partake in this joyful excursion as well.
Wheaton also boasts a gorgeous carousel. It was built in 1915 and is still in operation today, over 105 years later! It once served as the Smithsonian Carousel on the National Mall, and although it has retired to Wheaton, it is no less active than it was in its prime.
With the cold weather rapidly approaching, Wheaton Ice Arena is open for public sessions. Ice skating is one of my favorite autumn and winter activities.
