Maryland is brimming with outdoor adventure. From rushing rivers to gentle rolling hills, valleys, beaches, and even mountains, there's no shortage of terrain to explore. With that in mind, today's feature destination is one of the coolest outdoor adventures you'll ever take. We're going to Rocks State Park, where one of the most iconic hiking trails in Maryland awaits: King and Queens Seat Loop. This 3.2-mile trail has a little bit of everything we love about hiking in Maryland: gorgeous views, forested terrain, and lots of quality time in nature.
For one of the most breathtaking views in the state, we'd recommend taking the King and Queens Seat Loop at Rocks State Park.
Hikers should note that this is a very popular trail, but that shouldn't deter you too much. If you can, try to take the trail earlier in the day and preferably, sometime during the week.
This epic outdoor adventure in Maryland will lead you on a meandering path through the woods...
...past a scenic stream...
...and eventually, to a rocky outcropping that gives way to absolutely picture-perfect mountain views. To say the view is breathtaking is an understatement!
If you'd prefer to save the views for the end, it's best to take the loop in a counter-clockwise direction.
And while spring and summer are the most popular times to take this trail, winter can be just as enchanting!
