When it comes to Maryland beaches, most people immediately think of Ocean City. However, you can find dozens of other beaches in the state if you know where to look. The following one is unlike any other because not only does it have sand and water, but also natural pools all around. Check out this dreamy spot where you can spend the day relaxing, swimming, hiking, and even hunting for fossils.
You'll find Flag Ponds Nature Park in Lusby, Maryland.
Like most bay parks in the state, this place has a beach, but it's no ordinary beach. An aerial view shows its natural pools throughout the sandy areas, as well as bright green ponds hidden along nearby trails.
First, let's start with the beach. The hike to get here from the parking lot is about a half mile so keep that in mind if you're bringing little ones.
Enjoy the sprawling views of the Chesapeake Bay, where you can take a dip or play in the sand...
...or explore the natural pools on the beach that are beautifully unique.
When the tide is especially low, you may find people searching for fossils in the still water...
...including shark teeth! Bring a beach sifter to help you find even more treasures.
Flag Ponds Nature Park also has several trails where you can explore the area even further.
Some lead to the local ponds, which are serene and gorgeously green. What a surreal sight!
Keep in mind that there is a daily entrance fee, which you'll find below. Add Flag Ponds Nature Park and its glorious natural pools to your to-do list, and happy exploring!
