Looking to explore some of Maryland's most impressive natural wonders, minus the exhaustive hike to get to them? Well, you're in luck. There are a few spots in the Old Line State that are easy to get to and incredible. Check them out below and prepare for adventure!
1. Crystal Grottoes Caverns (Boonsboro)
This cave in Maryland has more natural formations per square inch than any other known cave in the world. Cost to explore this wondrous spot is $20 per adult and $10 per child (cash only).
2. Great Falls (Potomac)
While there are certainly hiking spots to view Great Falls (Billy Goat Trail is the best!), there are also observation points where you can simply walk up to a platform and enjoy the view. This place is gorgeous year-round, especially during autumn.
3. Assateague Island (Berlin)
This barrier island is one of Maryland's amazing natural wonders and once you find this spot, you may never want to leave. Seeing the wild horses run is an experience like no other.
4. Swallow Falls State Park (Oakland)
Once you park at this scenic spot, both Muddy Creek Falls and Swallow Falls are just a short walk away. However, if you prefer hiking, there is also a 1 1/4 mile trail between the two if you'd like.
5. Chesapeake Bay
Maryland's most well known natural wonder is an obvious choice to add to this list. With beaches along its perimeter, perfect fishing spots, and impressive views over the water, you can't go wrong.
