There are literally dozens to explore and today we're highlighting one that's among the most enchanting. If you haven't heard of Chapman State Park, be sure to put this unique spot on your to-do list.
Chapman State Park is located in Charles County. This Maryland gem offers woodland sights, water views, and historic structures.
This spot was a former plantation, dating back centuries. It even has a classically long driveway that beckons to the old South.
The Mt. Aventine Mansion still sits on the property, which was the living place of the Chapman family from the 1700s until the early 1900s. This magnificent building has 5 bedrooms, 6.5 bathrooms, 8 fireplaces, 2 offices, and more.
Keep exploring and you'll stumble onto many interesting and beautiful sights.
For example, you'll find that some of the Chapman family still rests at this historic spot. This tombstone reads "Our Mother - Sara Chapman."
Continue your adventure at Chapman State Park and you'll find an array of weathered old structures.
Vine-covered barns hide in the brush...
And shabby horse stables beckon to the past.
These cottage-like ruins seem to be straight out of an enchanted forest.
