1. Ride the chairlift at Wisp Resort

This chairlift isn't just for winter skiing. You can also hop on during autumn to get a fantastic bird's eye view of the colorful foliage in Western Maryland.

2. Take a colorful stroll along the C&O Canal towpath

Stretching from Washington DC to Cumberland, Maryland, there's plenty to see along the historic C&O Canal towpath. Hop on at any point and enjoy the views!

3. Take in the water views at Liberty Reservoir

Whether you're viewing Liberty Reservoir from up close or afar, you can't deny its beauty. This spot is truly at its best during autumn.

4. Go apple picking at a charming Maryland orchard

5. See Muddy Creek Falls surrounded by fall foliage

Maryland's tallest free-falling waterfall is located at Swallow Falls State Park in Western Maryland. Although this park is gorgeous year-round, the fall foliage adds even more magic to the surrounding scenery. You'll want to bring a camera!

6. Marvel at Brookside Gardens covered in copper

Brookside Gardens is always stunning but it transforms into a copper paradise during autumn. Walk the grounds, enjoy the water views, and simply sit and stay a while.

7. Enjoy the boardwalk hike at Calvert Cliffs State Park

It's the end destination that this park is known for, leading to a fossil beach with white clay cliffs. Don't underestimate the hike to get there. Boardwalks, swamp views, and dazzling foliage combine into one awe-inspiring journey.

8. Witness views for miles at one of Maryland's scenic overlooks
