There is nothing quite like spending time in one of Maine's incredible state parks. Whether you are an outdoor lover or you simply want to spend some time outside of the house, one of the many state parks in Maine is an excellent option. However, if you are like me, choosing the state park to explore can be tough, especially if you are in need of some time away from the crowds. Fortunately, there is Peaks-Kenny State Park. This hidden gem is tucked away on the shores of Sebec Lake and is one of the more remote and best state parks in Maine. It is beautiful, offers plenty of activities for the entire family, and boasts outdoor opportunities galore. It’s truly the perfect place to escape.
Peaks-Kenny State Park will make you fall in love with Maine all over again.
This park lies right along the shores of the enchanting Sebec Lake Maine and is nestled in the Central Maine Highlands. It is near the town of Dover-Foxcroft.
This 839-acre park offers activities for the entire family to enjoy.
However, many people come to this state park just to spend time on the water. You can easily spend the day fishing, swimming, or boating on Sebec Lake, one of the best lakes in Maine.
You can even just spend some time along the shore on the swimming beach within the park. Relax, play, or just admire the views surrounding you — this may easily become your favorite place in this state park.
You will also find picnic tables, a playground, barbecue grills, and other day-use amenities around this state park if you wish to spend just a few hours exploring.
But I recommend you spend several days at the campground in Peaks-Kenny State Park.
This campground features 56 campsites and is just a short distance from the lake, providing excellent proximity to a day of fun and adventures.
Plus, you’ll want someplace close to set up camp and put up your feet after a day of hiking.
Peaks-Kenny State Park is home to 10 miles of hiking trails. One short and easy trail is the Cove Trail Loop. This loop trail is 0.5 miles, flat, and beautiful. You will leave from the picnic area on the beach and walk through the forest area with beautiful lake views along the way. The path follows the South Cove of Sebec Lake.
Fish, swim, relax, camp, hike, and so much more at Peaks-Kenny State Park, a remote state park in Maine.
It’s the perfect place to escape and a hidden gem you’ll be grateful to discover.
