Nature trails are an excellent way to spend every day. If you hike to the top of a mountain or if you find yourself at a magnificent waterfall it's always time well spent. Simply walking in the woods can be a great way to get fresh air, but what if there was a park that had so much more than a walk in the woods? This park in Bridgton, Maine is packed full of points of interest and wonderful things to find; it feels more like a natural theme park than a nature walk.
Pondicherry Park sits right in the charming little town of Bridgton.
There are a few entrances to the park depending on where you come from but the main entrance makes a statement. A long-covered bridge is a perfect introduction to Pondicherry. The park is open all year round and we encourage you to go back multiple times throughout the year to get the most out of this wonderful place.
As you walk the covered bridge you will notice a spiral staircase to your left.
There is something just magical about a spiral staircase that begs to be explored. If you follow the winding steps down you can walk along the brook. Ducks are often found in the water quacking away excitedly.
Pondicherry has many trails throughout the park and each one is exciting and fun. Be on the lookout for cool bridges, old stone walls, wildlife, and interpretive signs teaching you about the woods.
In the warmer months, you will find a boardwalk trail that weaves around the water giving you great close-up views.
A sense of discovery lies around every corner.
Tall trees create a massive canopy for nice cool shade, the trails are very well maintained and the trail markers are even colorful wooded cutouts to signify what trail you are on. Remains of an old camp can be found on the trail as well, you just never know what kind of things you might find in this park.

One of the unique attractions however is the obstacle course.
The obstacle courses range from swinging ropes, blocks on trees, balance boards, and small wooden structures. All of the courses fit naturally into the surrounding forest. Some sections of it you might even walk by without noticing. They are a blast to climb, swing, and hop on.
The kids will love this addition to the park but let's be real we adults love them too.
