We have no shortage of waterfront natural areas in Maine and also several man-made waterparks, but what about a natural waterpark? We have one! A few man-made bits have been added but the place itself is quite natural. Outlet Beach in New Gloucester is a wonderful and fun natural waterpark in Maine that we love to play in. Come see what it has to offer.
Outlet Beach is located in New Gloucester on the northern shore of Sabbathday Lake. This natural waterpark is a favorite place for local families in the summer. It is privately owned and admission is quite inexpensive.
It boasts several boat docks along the shore so you can bring your boat along to sail or paddle on the lake to your heart’s content. It was once a study spot for a nearby Shaker village and has become a popular swimming spot.
The view from the shore is spectacular with lush forests surrounding the shore and the lake’s beautiful water shining in the sunlight. The sounds of kids playing while the water laps the shore is a joy.
For your convenience, there are picnic tables and port-a-potties available so you can enjoy a lovely summer picnic. You can bring your own food if you like.
Alternatively, you can buy scrumptious food from Bresca & The Honeybee, which is where you can also pay admission and rent tubes, life jackets, kayaks, canoes, paddleboards, and pedal boats. This yellow shack has stood here for over 100 years!
Kids love playing on the slides. There’s one on a boat dock and another on its own platform. Outlet Beach is open each year from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
Whether you’re a kid or a kid at heart, you can enjoy a fun summer day here whether you’re playing in the water and sun or relaxing in the shade with delectable ice cream made by a James Beard Award nominee! Come enjoy this gem of a place.
