Let's be real here: Maine is nothing short of a winter wonderland each and every year. As the northernmost state in the United States, it sure does get wintery around here, and what better way to celebrate the season than by going outside and enjoying it? That's where our friends at New Hermon Mountain come into the picture: this awesome adventure park is everything you never knew you needed to survive the winter in Maine without dying of boredom. Come check it out!
Welcome to New Hermon Mountain, one of the coolest winter destinations in the eastern U.S.
And lucky us: it's ours. All ours (insert sinister laughter complete with thunder and lightning here)!
But in all seriousness, Hermon Mountain is an amazing place to be during the coldest time of the year thanks to piles of snow and plenty to do.
It's a mecca for skiers, snowboarders, tubers, and everyone else who just loves a day or two (or ten) in the great outdoors particularly when it's covered in snow.
It's not huge, but it's not overly tiny, either; it's a family-friendly little place jam-packed with winter fun that everyone's sure to love.
It feels like you're way, way up in the mountains somewhere north of here... but really, you're only 10 minutes outside of the city of Bangor. Score!
If you don't have your own equipment, no worries - you can rent some here.
If you're not sure what you're even doing out here (ha, same), New Hermon Mountain offers lessons for skiing and snowboarding so you can learn. Best of all, the lessons are affordable.

If you're feeling particularly adventurous, you can check out the night skiing held at New Hermon.
Skiing is delightful during the day... and it becomes even more magical once the sun goes down and the moon comes up.
Take your pick from day passes or even a whole season pass!
Season passes are definitely recommended for folks who plan to keep coming back (and I don't blame them). Whatever you plan to do, I'm sure it'll be the best ever!
Planning to visit but need a place to stay? Our friends at Booking.com will help with that! Curious about how to start planning your adventure? Check out the official New Hermon Mountain website.
