Food and coastal food.. They just might be my favorite things about Maine. If you agree (and I'd like to believe I'm not alone) read on for some of the loveliest waterfront restaurants on Maine.
1. Portland Lobster Company, Portland
The only thing better than the view at Portland Lobster Company are the lobster rolls. And, the only thing better than the lobster rolls is the summertime live music on the deck. Head here for some typical Maine seafood or just enjoy drinks while dancing under the stars. Keep in mind that they close for the season in October, so you only have a few more months to bust out those dance moves! Visit them in person at: 180 Commercial Street, Portland / 207-775-2112.
2. Three Tides and Marshall Wharf Brewing Company, Belfast
If you're in Belfast on a sunny day, stop into Three Tides for some outdoor, waterfront drinks and great food. And, as a bonus, you can grab a delicious growler of their fresh brewed beer. The restaurant has both an entree and a tapas menu, perfect if you're looking for some casual time outside. If it's a chillier day, don't be scared! They have an awesome fire pit to keep you warm. Visit them in person: 2 Pinchy Lane, Belfast / 207-338-1707.
3. Marriner’s Restaurant, Camden
The outdoor seating at Marriner's looks out directly over the harbor, which is one of the most unique waterfront locations on this list. But, if you go to restaurants for the food, you won't be disappointed either! This place serves breakfast all day, which is awesome considering their blueberry pancakes are incredible. They even serve vegan sausage! If you stop by for lunch, you'll be happy with just about anything. Marriner's is hailed by some as the last affordable place to eat in Camden. Check it out and see for yourself. Visit them in person: 35 Main Street, Camden / 207-236-4949.
4. Morses Cribstone Grill, Harspwell
This lovely spot right on the beach will have you truly soaking up those last weeks of summer in Maine. If you're in Harpswell, you're already probably a happy Mainer. But, if you need a bit of a boost, enjoy a Shipwrecked Margarita outside at Morse's. Or, just go straight for the seafood nachos! Check them out in person: 1945 Harpswell Islands Road, Bailey Island / (207) 833-7775.
5. Emma's Eats, Pine Point Beach
Emma's Eats is another location that will put you as close to the water as you can be. In fact, because it's a takeout restaurant, you can technically sit IN the water eating if you'd like. Try the double cheeseburger if you're craving something to fill you up. Check them out in person: 63 King Street, Scarborough (Pine Point Beach) / (207) 219-8462.
6. Spinney's Restaurant, Popham Beach
Spinney's is one of the most well-known waterfront spots in Maine. Folks seem to be divided over this spot, but that's what happens when just about everyone you meet has been there. Try anything on the menu, especially with a side of onion rings. Parking is dicey in the parking lot, but to make up for it they've built a lovely back deck over the beach for this season! Check them out in person: 987 Popham Road, Popham Beach / (207) 389-1122.
7. Buffleheads At Hills Beach, Biddeford
Word on the street is that the new ownership has only made things better - a hard task given how great this place was before! The waterfront here is more marsh, but we think it has the same seaside vibe as many of the ones on the sand. Make sure to try the homemade desserts at the end of your meal. Check them out in person: 122 Hills Beach Road, Biddeford / (207) 284-6000.
8. Waco Diner, Eastport
Waco Diner is located in Bank Square, just passed the fisherman statue. The downtown, waterfront location overlooks Campobello & Roosevelt's Cottage and is just gorgeous. Show up on the right day and you'll get some outdoor, waterfront live music as well. Visit them in person at: 48 Water Street, Eastport / 207-853-9226
9. Mine Oyster, Boothbar Harbor
Don't let the name fool you. Mine Oyster is more than just the delicious oysters. You can enjoy a full menu that you'd expect at any restaurant this popular. The three outdoor, waterfront seating areas are perfect for looking out over the harbor while you enjoy everything from lobster mac and cheese to chowder. And, the service gets top ratings as well. Visit them in person: 16 Wharf St, Pier 1, Boothbay Harbor / 207-633-6616.

10. Chez Michel Restaurant, Lincolnville
If you're not so sure about French food, don't be nervous. This mid-coast favorite has a casual menu, perfect for those who are new to French food and those who know it well. The Lobster Stew gets rave reviews, as do the staff and view! Visit them in person at: 2530 Atlantic Highway, Lincolnville / 207-789-5600.
