Summer is still in full effect here in Maine, but we all know what’s coming. We have a few months of fall to enjoy before we’re face-to-face with the realities of winter. Some years that doesn’t mean much of a change. Temperatures remain bearable and the snow is minimal. Other years, it feels like we’re seeing reports of another snow storm weekly. What will this year hold? According to the Farmers’ Almanac it might not be pretty for people who love those warm falls and temperate winters!
If you love a classic Maine winter filled with snow and cold, you might have a reason to smile this season!
The Farmers' Almanac has released their 2020-2021 winter outlook and conditions are looking interesting for New England!
Last year we saw minimal snowfall and temperatures that felt unseasonably warmer than usual. But this year the Almanac is predicting a blizzard hitting the Northeast states during the second week of February.
The storm could bring up to 1-2 feet of snow with cold temperatures and wind.
But, get ready because there's more. The eastern half of America including Maine could see a storm during the last week of March.
We can expect to see some late season snowfall during this storm, which can be a real bummer when you're finally ready for spring.
But, of course, we do love parts of winter in Maine. Especially considering that we love all the fun things that this state offers to people who aren't afraid of a little snow.
So, rather than worrying, get ready to enjoy whatever we get. After the first part of 2020 we sort of have to, right?
