There was once an era when a night out on the town involved getting dressed in your finest and heading to the theater for a show. Unlike the reclining seats and bowls of popcorn found at movie theaters today, it was an event to see a show or movie, and Louisville was one of the best cities to do so. Along Fourth Street, in particular, you could shop, dine, and then attend one of the classic theaters in the area; the most beautiful of them all was what is now called the Louisville Palace. This jaw dropping place is a landmark in our city and it will blow you away.
This grand Louisville building held its opening on September 1, 1928 under the name Loew's and United Artists State Theatre.
The exterior is eye-catching and you can imagine it as a shining star along Fourth Street during the height of the era.
But it is the interior of The Palace that is truly jaw dropping.
In the early 1990s, the building underwent a multi-million dollar restoration to return The Palace to the opulence it was once known for. The lobby (shown above) is awe-inspiring and your eyes won't know where to gaze first.
The Mezzanine level is just as ornate, and the warm golden tones evoke the building's rich history.
Today, The Palace is used as a concert venue, as well as a place to hold private events.
The concert area is one of the best live venues in the country and provides a backdrop for many notable artists and performers.
Private events, weddings, and holiday parties are unforgettable when held in the colorful, unique spaces of The Palace.
Imagine gathering with your closest friends and family within these historic walls, magically lit up and showing off their architectural wonder!
The Palace Louisville has thankfully been brought back to life and remains a landmark in our vibrant city.
To attend an event here is a once-in-a-lifetime experience and you'll never forget the jaw-dropping decor of this mesmerizing structure.
The Louisville Palace remains one of the best venues in the country and its interior is truly unbelievable. Have you been lucky enough to walk through the doors of this iconic theater? Share your experience with us in the comments!
