There are 21 state parks peppered around Louisiana, and several are located within an hour or two of New Orleans, like Tickfaw State Park. This beautiful park has some of the most beautiful waterside trails around, and you’ll quickly fall in love with this natural oasis. Let’s take a closer look at these Tickfaw State Park photos and see if we aren't motivated to plan a trip in the near future:
Located in Livingston Parish, Tickfaw State Park is less than 2 hours away from New Orleans and worth every mile.
The 1,200-acre state park has ample green space to sprawl out on, playgrounds for the kids, several fishing opportunities, and a Nature Center to keep you entertained all day long.
After exploring the park, you’ll want to check out the hiking trails.
Tickfaw State Park features nearly five miles of boardwalk and gravel trails that are perfect for an afternoon adventure.
The trails will lead you on a breathtaking journey through four different ecosystems: a cypress/tupelo swamp, a bottomland hardwood forest, a mixed pine/hardwood forest, and the Tickfaw River.
You’ll be immersed in a sea of emerald greens, cypress knees, and beautiful water views along the way.
Keep your eyes peeled on the trails, you never know what critter you’ll come across. The park is home to countless alligators, snakes, turtles, migratory birds, and more.
There’s also a canoe/kayak launch, so you can take to the waterways and explore the park from an entirely new perspective!
If you’d like to extend your stay, you’ve got several options. Feel free to bring your RV, rent one of their cabins, or pitch a tent and spend a night under the stars listening to the symphony of sounds from the swamps nearby.
