People are great, but sometimes you just want to be by yourself. We get it. Luckily, there's one simply stunning spot in central Louisiana that's so hidden, you might just have it all to yourself. Gas up the car, because today we're exploring the beautiful Valentine Lake, one of the most delightful hidden gems in Louisiana.
Nestled deep within the Kisatchie National Forest, Valentine Lake is one of those hidden treasures that once you find, you’ll never want to leave.
The 46-acre lake is the perfect secluded and peaceful setting to spend the day. It's not a widely popular lake so there's a good chance you might just have it all to yourself.
Motorized boats aren’t allowed on the lake, making it the ideal for those wanting to explore the lake via kayak or canoe.
There’s also a lovely little pier that not only provides a great view of the lake, but it’s perfect for dropping a line and doing a little fishing.
And while you’re at it, go ahead and take a stroll down the Valentine Lake Trail, which starts and ends at the Northshore Campground.
It’s about 3 miles long and you’ll be surrounded by beautiful hardwoods and towering pines along the way, with the occasional glimpse of the lake through the trees.
In addition to the recreational area, there are a few different campgrounds that would be perfect for making a weekend out of it.
Spending your days on the lake catching fish and your evenings by the fire telling ghost stories and eating s'mores.
Sounds like the perfect summer adventure, right?
