If you live in the Greater Baton Rouge Area, you already know how incredible the BREC Park system is. With 175 Louisiana city parks in its network, you're never too far away from one, and the Independence Community Park is one of my favorites. This public park isn't your average neighborhood park...I mean, how often do you have a state-of-the-art theater within a public park? Let's check out all the incredible attractions at one of the best parks in Baton Rouge.
Next time you want to spend a day of fun in the sun, make your way over to Independence Community Park in Baton Rouge.

There’s a lot to do here, including a tennis center, a sports field, a playground for the kiddos, and so much more.

That barely scratches the surface of the amenities here!
One of the crown jewels of this lovely park is the botanical garden.

There's always something in bloom, and there are several benches peppered around so you can sit for a spell and take it all in.

The Independence Park Theatre is an 800-person capacity theater with state-of-the-art sound and lighting equipment. From kid’s recitals to epic theatrical productions, it does it all.

Check the schedule to see what’s on the horizon.
Blue Lagoon Water Park is also part of the park! I can't think of a better way to beat the heat than splashing around in the water.

Keep in mind that while Independence Community Park is free to enter, Liberty Lagoon does charge an admission fee.
Liberty Lagoon is all about the humans 99 percent of the time, but a few times a year they have a "pool pawty" for the pups.

The next one is scheduled for September, but it's always hosting special events so be sure to visit the site to see them all.
Independence Park is open daily from sunrise to sunset. Pack some snacks and enjoy! Visit the BREC Independence Community Parks website for current updates, and be sure to check out all of the best city parks in Baton Rouge like this one:
