With so many incredible parks in New Orleans, it's hard to find a reason to leave the city. Sure, you could spend the day (or an entire weekend) exploring the many attractions at both Audubon and City Park, but sometimes, it’s all about the adventure. Next time you’ve got a free afternoon, gas up the car and head on over to the Northshore, where you’ll find John Slidell Park, a beautiful little park near New Orleans that the entire family will love.
Located in Slidell, John Slidell Park is one of St. Tammany Parish’s most beloved parks. Whether you're looking for a scenic spot for a picnic or a space for the kids to get out some energy, this little park is an ideal spot to spend an afternoon.
With multiple playgrounds and ample green space, kids will love getting to explore these areas.
Swing sets for kids of all ages ensure everyone can have a good time.
And the benches are perfect for relaxing underneath the shade of the towering pines above.
There's even a beach volleyball court. Bring your ball and challenge your family to an epic battle of beach volleyball!
After your win, take a victory lap along the nature trail.
The 1.5-mile path will lead you throughout the park with a few options to go "off-road" if you want to explore further.
During the spring, your walk will be peppered with beautiful blooms like these azaleas.
The azaleas bloom until May, so mark your calendar!
