We still have a few more weeks of summer, so why not plan a beach vacation? When you’re thinking about sinking your toes in the sand and listening to the waves crash onto the shore, your mind probably goes to somewhere along the Gulf Coast, maybe Destin or Orange Beach. But there is a beautiful beach right here in Louisiana that’s a true hidden gem and worth the two-hour drive from New Orleans. Grab a beach towel and some sunscreen, because today we're heading down to the tip of the boot to explore Grand Isle's beautiful beaches.
When you’re planning a day of fun in the sun, Grand Isle is the perfect spot. It's only two hours from the city and features something for everyone.
While other beaches along the Gulf Coast are more popular with beach-goers, Grand Isle is an underrated beach that’s worthy of an exploration.
Louisiana’s only inhabited barrier island has seven miles of beautiful pubic beaches for you to spend the day on.
Perfect for swimming, combing for seashells, or just relaxing with your toes in the sand, Grand Isle beaches are a true hidden gem.
And because these beaches aren’t as popular, you’ll probably have the beach all to yourself!
At the eastern side of the island, you’ll find Grand Isle State Park, which offers nature trails, incredible birdwatching opportunities, overnight camping, and an impressive 400-foot fishing pier.
Even if you didn’t bring your rod and reel, take a stroll down the pier for the views along. You may even spot some dolphins playing in the water.
Next time you're wanting to squeeze in some beach time, consider Grand Isle Beach.
Not only is it closer than Orange Beach and Destin, but more affordable, too.
There are several cabins and hotels you can stay at, and if you really want an epic adventure, you can bring a tent and camp right on the beach! Learn more about camping on the beach here.
