The Tammany Trace, Louisiana's only rail-to-trail hiking trail, is a beautifully paved trail that will send you through Lacombe, Slidell, Mandeville, Abita Springs, and Covington and you'll have the opportunity to explore each one as you pass through. The Tammany Trace is a converted rail-to-trail paved trail with over 30 miles to explore. The trail meanders through five towns, offering picture perfect scenery and a chance to explore the different towns along the way.

Why We Love It: It's taken several trips for me to figure out my perfect "weekender bag that's TSA approved," but I've found my perfect carry on with the TOBIQ Colorado 30L. An Instagram ad caught my eye during a late-night scroll session and I was intrigued by the colorful compartments and versatility of the bag, which can be carried as a duffle or as a backpack (I prefer the backpack for even weight distribution and airport navigation.) Why I Love It: Fact: Airplanes are notoriously dry, dry, dry. No matter how much water I drink both before and during the flight, I always find myself in a hydration deficit for days. This popular little nature trail at the Bayou Sauvage National Wildlife Refuge is a great option for anyone looking to get outdoors and view wildlife up close, but still not stray too far from the city.
The Mississippi River Trail is just over 25 miles long and is primarily used for hiking and biking. The point-to-point trail can be a bit intimidating since it’s so long, but you can always just do a portion of it.
A quick trip across the Causeway will bring you to Fontainebleau State Park, where there are several trails to choose from. A few of the trails overlook the lake and offer sweeping views of the water.
As the name implies, the 1.5-mile River Walk is right on the river, providing a picture-perfect way to spend a couple of hours. There are plenty of spots to sit for a break and enjoy the view, as well as several shopping opportunities nearby.
An oldie but a goodie, the 1.9-mile Audubon Park Loop has been a popular trail for New Orleanians for years. This trail is great for bringing your pup and walking them along the path, too.
